A majority of my sales calls involve discussions on services such as helpdesk and security. Often, I’m the one to turn the conversation to backup processes.
Why? Because business technology that is down includes failed computers, power outages, phones not working, email unavailable, no internet access, and client data inaccessible. We return to normal based on our backup processes.
Which process do you have in place: sneaker-net, file backups, file & folder synchronization, disaster recovery, business continuity? I have always appreciated the phrase, “If the shoe fits, wear it.” If you don’t have any of the “shoes” mentioned, definitely consider one of them. If you have a data contingency plan, when is the last time you tested it, and furthermore, evaluated its merit in regards to how your business functions today?
As your business has changed in the last few years, so have technologies evolved. Solutions today revolve around the thought-provoking conversation on what is your business model and what is your tolerance for being down?
It is possible to leave your office at night confident that your data is safe and that you can recover it in the event of a natural or human catastrophe. Equipment can be replaced. Make it worthwhile by having company data available to load onto the hardware.
Have a Happy Valentine’s Day!
